Amberdata is proud to have sponsored Permissionless II in Austin from September 11-13, 2023. Permissionless II is the world’s largest DeFi event. We joined 7000+ crypto enthusiasts for a 3-day experience filled with keynotes from Web3 leaders, insightful panels, networking events, Texas-themed parties, and one-on-one time with current and future Amberdata customers.
Amberdata was represented by Shawn Douglass, Co-Founder and CEO of Amberdata, Ryan Burdick, SVP Global Sales, Taylor Travis, Senior Account Executive, Robert Weaver, Account Executive, Max Keonig, Sales Engineer, Daniel Marques Growth/Relationship Manager Americas and Lisa Hadrick, VP Media and Event Marketing.
Leveraging insights from Amberdata and Coalition Greenwich’s newly released research report Digital Assets: Managers Fuel Data Infrastructure Needs, Amberdata CEO & Co-Founder, Shawn Douglas participated in a panel discussion alongside moderator David Easthope of Coalition Greenwich (a division of CRISIL), PayPal, Blockdaemon, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Shawn’s session was standing-room only!

Of course, our booth was very busy and we left having made many new connections. For those of you who couldn’t attend - here are our top 3 Permissionless II takeaways.
Top 3 Takeaways
- Institutional optimism is very high. This was especially evident in the attendees representing traditional finance. Top logos such as JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Franklin Templeton, PwC, KPMG, and Fidelity Investments were front and center showing their engagement in the space.
- “People are going to where they’re welcome.” — Shawn Douglass on the crypto industry leaving the US. The lack of policy-making and predictable enforcement has caused crypto to thrive abroad. Europe, Dubai, and much of Asia have relatively clear frameworks – making them the next frontier for institutional players.
- Tokenization continues to be a hot topic. Banks and other intermediaries see an opportunity to support the tokenization of assets (both financial and real-world assets (RWA), with proofs of concept (PoCs) and pilots across the globe.
Next, our team is heading to the HKIB Banking Conference in Hong Kong in late September. If you are attending - please reach out so we can connect at the conference.
